Projects and the timeline

Create a project, invite people and post the work.

Create a project

  1. Open the Projects tab and tap New project.
  2. Give it a name and, if you like, a description and a picture.
  3. Save. You are its first manager.

A project has three working areas you can swipe between: Forms for data collection, Timeline for the running record, and Satellite for the map. Project documents live alongside them.

Invite people

From the project's details, choose Invite:

  • Share the invitation link (Copy link) by WhatsApp, text or email. The code in the link is the permission, so it can be passed on, and replaced with a new one if it travels too far.
  • Invite by phone to add someone by their number. They see the invitation in their Projects tab.

Nobody is ever added silently: an invitation stays pending until the person accepts it. Someone who does not have FieldOps yet is shown how to get it, and the invitation waits for them.

Members and managers

Access is by membership. Every member sees the project's timeline, map and forms. Managers can also edit the project, invite and remove people, promote other managers, and manage forms and exports. Managers are named per project; being a manager on one gives nothing on another.

Groups

A group is the organisation above the projects (a firm, a department, a course). File related projects under a group to keep them together. Joining a group puts you among its people; which of its projects you are on stays separate.

Post to the timeline

  1. Open the project's Timeline and start writing at the top.
  2. Attach what you have: photographs, video, a voice note, documents, a page, a poll or an event.
  3. Post. Without a signal the post waits on your phone and goes out when you are back in range.

Mention someone with @ and they are notified. Like and comment on posts, and use the bookmark to keep a post in your saved posts. Documents such as PDFs and spreadsheets show a readable preview without leaving the app.

Project documents

Upload drawings, specifications, reports, contracts and permits to the project. Each document can be previewed, downloaded or shared, and older versions are kept.
